“For my ideas, I try to remember the most unforgettable emotions or experiences life offered me and those around me. I then try to transmute those into literary artifacts.”

Note from the EIC…

Well, Blood+Honey is embarking on its fourth month of publication (its third publishing on a rolling-basis). We are overjoyed with the continued support from our followers on social media and submitters from across the globe and remain eager in bringing you yet another month of amazing content.

If you are new to Blood+Honey, take a moment and explore our site to see what we have to offer. Apart from poetry, fiction, CNF, and digital art, we also deliver feature pieces, columns, writing/visual art from nine Writers-in-Residence, as well as exclusive content only found here on Blood+Honey, such as our Disappearing Virtual (Micro)Chaps and the popular serialized chapbook, Jethro’s Daughter, by Allister Nelson. There’s something for everyone.

None of this could happen without our dedicated, talented, and very cool editors. They’re the best, so make sure to give them some love. Last—but not least—our contributors remain truly amazing and their content mind-blowing. Couldn’t do any of this without ‘em.

Follow us on our social media platforms and visit us daily to see what is NEW at Blood+Honey.

Interview with EIC and Author Benjamin Drevlow

by David Estringel

“To be a writer, you have to write. That doesn’t mean you stop being a “real writer” if you’ve gone six months, a year, two years without writing anything worth publishing…It’s about whenever you can, just throwing whatever’s in your mind on the page and seeing where it goes…”

Special Feature

Excerpts from Robinson Crusoe Maybe

A novel by Colin Gee

“Poking about with my sword, stabbing the ground, kicking aside rocks, and hacking down to the grey-brown clay with my hardwood machete, I discovered that in the year 1661 or 2 there was no secret entrance to any enchanted underground lagoon upon the SE cindertop, and I should know because we spent several days up there rooting around, as Quaker Bill is my witness.”

*Stay tuned for an interview with Colin Gee in September’s column “Beneath and Beyond…” by David Estringel

Disappearing Virtual (Micro)Chaps

Got a small collection of poetry, fiction, and/or CNF that you’re wanting to share? Getting published soon and looking for a venue to give readers and “sneak peak” of what coming on down the pike?

Blood+Honey’s Disappearing Virtual (Micro)Chaps showcase writers’ talents on our site for a two-month period of time before disappearing into the vast darkness of the internet void. They are ephemeral. They are cool AF. They are an event.

We only publish a limited number per two-month cycle so send your best work! (Hybrid submissions welcomed!)

***Submission window for DVMCs closes August 31, 2025.***

B+H Article Updates

  • Flying High Again (with Your Dad)

    ***NEW***

    8/4

from The Comfortable Apocalypse by Robert Dean

“Influence carries for generations, even when the person doesn’t realize it. Play it loud while you still can. Give those around you their flowers just the same. “

  • Below and Beyond the Writing: An Interview with EIC & Author Benjamin Drevlow

    ***NEW***

    Coming 8/8

from Beneath and Beyond… by David Estringel

“To be a writer, you have to write. That doesn’t mean you stop being a “real writer” if you’ve gone six months, a year, two years without writing anything worth publishing…It’s about whenever you can, just throwing whatever’s in your mind on the page and seeing where it goes…”

  • Wither the Ghosts

    7/14

from Wander Lines by Michael Templeton

“Maybe I am just being sentimental. Or maybe there is something profoundly wrong with a world that cannot make room for a simple ghost at the movies, and in abandoning that ghost, maybe we have abandoned ourselves.“

  • The Death of Innocence: A Book Review of Unica Zurn's Dark Spring

    7/16

from Altered Spaces: Championing the Uncanny by Dylan Desmond

“…the death of innocence is ultimately the same outfit as coming of age. The body wearing either might appear different to the unexamined eye, but on closer inspection the two share the same material and craftsmanship. Truly, the only difference is in the lighting, which is outside the outfit altogether.”

  • The Ghosts of Palmer and the Lessons We Keep Ignoring"

    7/21

from Dispatches from the Frontlines of America’s Third Red Scare by Wesley R. Bishop

“The protests are a heartbeat. A vital one. But a heartbeat alone cannot stop the bleeding. We need a revolution infrastructure, law, and imagination. Otherwise, we’ll find ourselves marching the same streets a decade from now, again shouting, No Kings in America—and wondering why they keep coming back.”

Spotlight on…

The Collector

Micro-fiction by Karen Schauber

“He’d come to collect fees, long overdue fees, fees from a previous generation we didn’t know was owed.”

B+H Disappearing Virtual (Micro)Chaps

…from Henry Miller on Writing

“A child has no need to write, he is innocent. A man writes to throw off the poison which he has accumulated because of his false way of life.”
