“It seems to me that maybe / It pretty much always means no”

       —  Jack Johnson, Flake

Why do I fear it—

a moment of truth? Seems

I’m afraid to

confront consequences. Me,

a grown man that

demands honesty. Maybe

self-deception has something to do with it.

All the pretty

white lie lullabies sound much

like self-care-help. Always

avoiding uncomfortable mirrors means

never hearing, No.
