About Blood+Honey

“Chaos is the score upon which reality is written.” —Henry Miller

It all began with The Argyle…

The Argyle Literary Magazine was launched in January 2024 by Founder and EIC David Estringel. The Argyle put out three issues filled with amazing poetry, fiction, CNF, and digital art, some straddling the fence between this world and the surreal. Prior to an extended hiatus, starting May 2024 due to a tornado, The Argyle received and published many innovative and experimental pieces that challenged normative views of what literature should be. While The Argyle seeks to create an eclectic, supportive environment for writers, there was always a feeling that some of its more novel pieces would be better served if surrounded by other “little darlings” of the same ilk. That is where the idea behind Blood+Honey was born.

Blood+Honey…

seeks to provide its readers the best in experimental and avant-garde poetry, fiction, and CNF that challenges paradigms and provokes thought.

We love the absurd, the existential, the surreal. We love work that moves beyond the banality of life and gives us a taste of the ugly, some kitchen sink realism, the absurd. We love work that challenges us to look at life and art in different ways, makes us question our own beliefs and perceptions, decimating and reconstructing our paradigms.

Surprise us. Blood+Honey is mad for it all!

Blood+Honey’s

Mission Statement

Blood+Honey’s Editor-in-Chief and its Editors are committed to creating a safe space for writers and artists, alike, that supports the creation, presentation, and representation of innovative works and creatives. ALL voices are welcomed, marginalized or otherwise. Equally as important, we seek to provide an escape for readers from the din of their mundane lives, where they can lose themselves in words, images, colors, and rhythms that provoke though and feeling sans the burden of dangerous and reductive fears & -isms that, frankly, make the outside word a fucking drag.

With that being said, we sadly cannot escape the ugliness of life—past, present, and future—but we can learn from it. Blood+Honey respects the life experiences, narratives, and traumas—personal and historical—of our contributors and readers. We believe it is through the (re)telling of these stories, the expressing of these salient moments in time and experience, that true healing begins…and we’re happy—and honored—to be a part of it.

In publishing content and literature that is experimental and gritty in nature, one quickly comes to understand that little is off the table. We wouldn’t have it any other way; HOWEVER, while our content may echo some of life’s ugliness, we will NEVER publish anything that supports, endorses, romanticizes, or glorifies hate or discrimination in any way, shape, or form.

Life doesn’t come with trigger warnings, and neither does Blood+Honey!!!
