The City Is a Plastic Flower : A Book Review of Ripped Backsides by Richard Cabut
by David Estringel
“[Ripped Backsides] not only fulfilled its promise to deliver a dopamine-laced travel log/urban anthropologist shadow diary but also an erudite commentary on societal decay and disconnection that rings true today, as much as it did decades ago, if not more.”
Richard Cabut is a British author – his previous books include the hit work of modern poetry Disorderly Magic and Other Disturbances (Far West Press) – ‘subterranean scenes, picturesque ruins, neon glowing, Chelsea Girls, the damned, the demimonde, the elemental, being on the edge of being pinned down by our ghosts’ – and the Freudian 80s cult Looking for a Kiss (PC-Press), which has been adapted for screen. Also, Punk is Dead: Modernity Killed Every Night (Zer0 Books).

Excerpt from Flowers for the Abyss: A Memoir
by Glenn Wallis
“A blood-red lake of sky appears in the opening where black rain clouds part. Claret red. Oozing, spurting, pulsing, like magma from an erupting volcano. Its sheer aliveness frightens him…Older kids say, with a mix of hysteria and awe, ‘this is the return of Jesus.’”
“Throw roses into the abyss and say: here is my thanks to the monster who failed to devour me.”
—Friedrich Nietzsche
Note from the EIC…
Hello All,
Glad to be back for the month of March with more amazing poetry, fiction, CNF, digital art, and more for your reading/viewing pleasure. We are over the moon with the awesome response to our special poetry issue “Rules of Verse: Poetry Inspired by The Velvet Underground” and are now looking toward the summer for our next creative project, a Gonzo-themed happing of tasty goodness, spearheaded by B+H CNF Editor Daniel Bailey. Things are still in the planning stages, but it is looking much larger in scope with some well-known names attached. Of course, we will keep folks posted once things are solidified, so teasers and promos will be headed your way sooner than later.
Of couse, I have to show some love to our talented editors for all that they do. Blood+Honey wouldn’t be what it is without them. Also, a big THANKS to our readers and contributors for all their support. You guys make all this worthwhile.

Planning is currently underway for Blood+Honey Press, the publishing arm of Blood+Honey (or maybe Blood+Honey will be its lit mag arm…Hmmm). Concepts are being entertained. Ideas thrown up into the air…where they land…who knows, but rest assured it will be awesome.
Likely, chapbooks and magazine merch will be the primary focus on Blood+Honey Press when it launches, moving on to larger projects later, but it is too soon to tell for now until details get worked out. The “not knowing” is absolutely titillating. No?
