things inside my fridge

by Natalie Nee

Five bottles of almost-empty hot sauce, an oil-stained to-go box of empanadas, a gifted psilocybin chocolate bar I’m saving for a rainy day, organic Dijon mustard, wilting kale I bought with the best of intentions, horseradish mustard, whole grain mustard since I’m apparently a mustard maniac, a half wheel of Costco-sized Brie that I’d planned to polish off for dinner, cage free eggs, Dad’s favorite grapefruit juice I bought for his upcoming visit (the one his pharmacist failed to mention would be dangerous to take with his new heart medication), two pounds of ground beef and marinara that I hope will be enough for this unexpected family dinner, and a $7 bottle of wine to make a toast in his honor
