a little closer to you

by Pierre Minar

Remember the second time we met

After the avant garde performance I missed

When my New Jersey train was late?

I was busy glimpsing your long coat and charisma

Eyes across the crowd when, out of no where, Lou Reed

Was in our way, preventing what we wanted.

I still remember how impatient I felt for Lou Reed to move—

“Get out of the way, Lou,” I thought, because I wanted to get

A little closer to you.
