pot girl summer

by Courtney Leigh

It’s delulu to want everyone to like you

they’re always so ungiving—I want to not give

but to value the remaining fucks I’ve got.

Imagine hating me while I’m high as fuck

as I iron out the wrinkles of my humanness.

I’m in my werewolf era, messy like glitter

stuck in the skin of my teeth. I am gore whore

made mostly of blood, water, & fluorophore dyes.

I am moonchild, homesick for the wild hereafter

a dip in the neon pool—some place darker.

I’m living in a dying society & getting cooked

by my tarot cards. Little green men dance

atop my tongue, my palms spit rainbows into

golden cups, it’s gratitude after the first hit

the grasstral plane between reality & ultimate

potential—in this world, but not of it.

Is it a haunt or just bad company, this rot

of detachment? Either way, I protect my peace

embalm my hands in the green resolve

watch from my high how small you are

bc in the end, there is only what we take

with us to the next life, one fuck at a time.
