quarters
by Camryn Brennan
I see them everywhere. All around me. On my pillow. Under the seat of my car. On the kitchen counter. It's like I'm meant to see them. It feels like someone is leaving them for me.
As I walk to class, a memory pops up on my phone. It's a video of my late grandmother. She is telling me to look for quarters after she passes, for that is how I will know she is there. I call my mom and tell her what I've found. She tells me she finds quarters everywhere, all the time. My grandma is a quarter. I walk through the door and head to my seat. I go to set my bag down and glance towards the floor. There is a quarter on my chair.
My grandma is a quarter.
